Just like fashion, website trends change. Below are five current trends for website designs.
1. Hero Images
A Hero Image is a large image at the top of the site and features a compelling call to action to increase conversions. Since vision is one of the strongest human sense, hero images are one of the fastest ways to grab a user’s attention. Thanks to advances in bandwidth and data compression, users won’t suffer from slow load times either.
2. Galleries and slideshows
Galleries and slideshows are an effective way to showcase multiple images without overburdening the users. These are great for photography sites, product showcases, and portfolios.
3. Long scroll
Placing all your important elements above the fold is not the case now. Thanks to mobile devices, almost everyone is accustomed to long scrolls. The technique works especially well for sites that want to lure users through storytelling, and you can still mimic a multi-page site by breaking the scroll into clear sections. However, an e-commerce site wouldn’t do well with the long scroll.
4. Responsive Design
Thanks to the rise of mobile internet usage, responsive web design has become incredibly popular in recent years. Responsive design isn’t going anywhere soon, as it represents a relatively simple and cheap way for businesses to build a fully-functional mobile-friendly site.
5. Vibrant color schemes
Bright colors are on the rise. As noted by sitepoint.com, these more vibrant color schemes aren’t limited to just web design, but can be found in fashion design, graphics and interior design. Bright colors also help elements like buttons and navigation jump out from a page.
